My father bred and raised birds for years and when he passed, Chopmist Hill Aviary was born. Soon his passion became mine and I have grown. Chopmist Hill Aviary is a small home based closed aviary located in Rhode Island. I have a closed aviary to protect my birds from disease, as well as breeding interruptions. Many breeder birds have eggs and/or babies and are easily frightened. All our birds are selectively cage bred for quality control. They are fed my own seed/pellet/egg food mix, herb salad, vitamins, supplements, minerals, calcium, millet and fresh fruits/veggies. We take pride in offering healthy pets, weaned babies and breeders to new and returning customers. Although Chopmist Hill is small, I do have a good variety of birds and availability. Birds I raise include Black Cheek Zebra Finches, Crested Zebra Finches, BC CFW Zebra Finches, Black Breasted Zebra Finches, Lady Gouldians, Star Finches, Pied Star Finches, Bourkes [normal, Rosie, rainbow] Parakeets, Scarlet Chested [Splendid] Parakeets, Lineolated Parakeets, Pacific Parrotlets [Pastels and Pieds], Green Rump Parrotlets, Red Rumps, and English Budgies. My sister breeds our Lovebirds [peach face, dutch blue, Fischers, black cheek] and some of the Parrotlets. Most of our hookbills are handfed which we believe makes for a better pet. We do not sell unweaned babies. We will soon have Meyers and Senegals. Chopmist Hill Aviary breeds for size, color, health and quality; not quantity.

Non Refundable Deposits on our birds ensure you that the bird is being held for you. No bird(s) will be held without paid deposit. Periodic updates, band number and pictures are emailed to you until your bird is fully weaned. An approximate “ready date” will be issued when a deposit is made. Keep in mind every bird weans at his/her own rate so sometimes this date is earlier or later, but progress is always given. If for any reason the bird becomes unavailable a full deposit refund will be given.

Babies are hand fed with a lot of TLC and it is important to us that you and your bird are both happy. Your new pet bird will come with a hatch certificate, care sheet, sample of our food, a coupon for one of our custom bird safe toys and a small sample of Herb Salad.

We are also distributors of Herb Salad which I have always fed to my birds.

We do ship birds via Delta airlines, weather permitting, for an additional $120 which includes the crate[s] etc.
